Lucic Group, in cooperation with the Serbian Chamber of Commerce, visited Brussels representatives of European associations in the sector of fresh fruit and vegetables, as well as Belgium's largest producers and distributors.
Lucic Group’s delegation met with Philippe Binard, general secretary of Freshfel, the largest European association in the fruit and vegetable sector. It was discussed about the importance of local companies involved in the network at European level, such as Freshfel. Mr. Binard said that Serbian companies have doors wide open, especially companies with a potential such as Lucic Group. The present delegation agreed that the sector of fresh vegetables in Serbia need more investment, and in that way European partners can contribute with their knowledge and experience.
In Mechelen, near Brussels, hosted by Mechelen Auction, one of the largest vegetable markets in Europe, selling a cooperative that brings together Belgian producers, sells their goods, takes care of the quality and implements development projects financed from EU funds. Lucic Group representatives had the opportunity to see how the center operates which sells each year about 250,000 tons of vegetables, and to discuss the possibilities of implementing a similar system in Serbia.
Delegation also negotiated with the EUCOFEL president, the European fruit and vegetable trade associations, the secretary of European Centres for fruit and vegetables in Brussels, representatives of the Belgium farmers union and the Flemish Government in the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries.
